Our Story
Truly what is more important than our story is your story. Every woman has a uniquely beautiful story to tell and our pieces are created with intention and made to embody what’s meaningful to you. Our handmade jewelry is designed to be an expression of self, enhancing your natural beauty and empowering you to wear your story proudly.
Blackbird certainly has a story, which has evolved over the past 15 years, but it is still one of a small business owner creating handmade jewelry, a designer expressing herself through sophisticated and effortless designs, and continuing to create pieces to embody self expression and make the women who wears it find pieces that accent their unique beauty.
And while Blackbird was founded in 2010 at the height of the 'handmade movement', doing our pieces by hand and with care, is not lost on us. From our unique bespoke pieces to our ready-to-wear pieces, most are still hand-cut, soldered in house, stamped letter by letter, filed, polished, hand hammered, and cleaned by hand, ensuring that each piece is as unique as your story.

We are Blackbird Designs, a beautiful collection of jewelry and a curated selection of gifts, that promote mindfulness and self-discovery of everything that makes you uniquely you. We craft pieces that embody cool, effortless sophistication, made by hand, and with a little magic.Â

Our Jewelry and Crystal Kits are handmade in Los Angles, CA by Raven Tryon, owner and founder.
Our gifts are hand selected from other female owned small businesses in hopes of empowering those voices.
Our practices and packaging are rooted in respect for Mother Earth and sustainability for future generations.

A Note From our Founder
As a small business owner, I have found immeasurable joy in this journey, and feel whole when I am at my jewelry bench. And while the everyday tasks of running two small businesses pulls me away from my bench more than I wish, it is only there to remind me to have gratitude each chance I get to sit and create.
I always knew I was meant to design and create, but my path was not direct and clear. After receiving my bachelor's degree in Interior design, and over a decade in the residential design industry, it was working with fire and metal that finally brought me satisfaction in this lifelong search to create.
AND, not only am I a Jewelry designer but I am also a pattern designer. I run a stationary, washi tape, and journaling site, which is why you will find a mindful selection of gifts and journaling items here at blackbird. Scripting and journaling provide so much self-discovery and self-expression, that it spills over into all areas of my life. All items on Blackbird Designs are meant to encourage self-discovery and mindfulness.

ONE TREE PLANTED
One Tree Planted is a non-profit organisation facilitating a greener type of growth, planting millions of trees globally through local partnerships. Blackbird Designs plants one tree per sale. With your orders, our little green thumbs have planted over 3000 trees to the California Woodlands. It helps restore affected areas by wildfire, increase biodiversity to protect freshwater & Soil, and boost the liveliness of California communities.

Our democracy only stands to benefit from the unique perspectives and lived experiences that women bring to leadership, and we need to work together to get them in office. Gender equality is essential to the health and potential of societies. It is key to empowering the full potential of younger generations. Yet, in the United States, women represent fewer than one third of elected leaders. This places us 66th on the global ranking of women in national government. She should run is a nonpartisan nonprofit working to drastically increase the number of women considering a run for public office.

Heifer International
With a goal to end poverty, this organization provides communities around the world with herds of livestock and crops, for them to feed their family, and make a working wage by providing them the means to harvest and sell to others in their community, assisting with food security and nutrition. Creating a more resilient economy in that community.
Blackbird chooses to donate to the programs that help women specifically to gather the skills to run their own business, farms, and invest in their children's future, while teaching sustainable farming (supporting Mother Earth in the process).
End factory farming for the benefit of our planet, the animals, and ourselves
New Roots Institute
New Roots institute focuses on education to the next generation to end factory farming. The goal to empower young people to create a just and sustainable food system for all.
Factory farming is one of the most harmful industries, impacting the health of people, animals, and the planet. New Roots are strengthening one shared movement—the movement to end factory farming. By empowering the next generation with knowledge and training to do just that, the end is in sight.
Ensuring people feel loved & supported in grief.
LOVE NOT LOST
Donations allows Love Not Lost to create free grief support tools for the community and preserve memories for those facing a terminal diagnosis at no cost to the family. This organization does free photo sessions with loved ones who have a terminal illness, insuring those going through grief have a memory they can hold forever, spending the day with their loved one doing a photo session that will be preserved forever in the photos.
